Services Posada Tom Carel offers its visitor trips/walks to the mountains, rivers and different beaches. It has 11 comfortable beautiful rooms, with total capacity for 29 people. Journeys to mountains and rivers An excellent journey in the mountain where you can visit the heart of the Henri Pitier National Park, which is only 20 minutes away from the posada. You can walk trough the vegetation with nice weather, amazing flora and fauna diversity, you can take spectacular photos, see beautiful rivers and waterfalls, where you can bath, relax and revive yourself, while you are in contact with nature. The journey lasts about 5 hours; it includes a guide and refreshments. Cost p/p: US$ 70 (or the equivalent in Bs. or Bs.F. to the exchange of the day). 2 peoples minimum Journeys to the different beaches Valle Seco, Chuao, Uricaro, Cepe, Diario and others by peñero (boat) from Puerto Colombia. Each of these beaches has its particular charm, but in all of them you can snorkel, get a nice tan, visit: towns, cocoa plantations, rivers and the rain forest. The journey lasts about 5 hours; it includes a guide and refreshments. Cost p/p: US$ 70 (or the equivalent in Bs. or Bs.F. of the exchange of the day).

Choroní

Choroní is a beautiful colonial town on the Venezuelan Coast. It is full of natural contrasts: from crystalline beaches with white sand and warm water to beautiful rivers and waterfalls surrounded by the exuberant rain forest.

Furthermore, in this beautiful town, Madre María de San José was born. (1875-1867)

She is the first saint of Venezuela. She founded the Agustinas order to the service of the poor. She was declared a saint by his holiness the pope, Juan Paul II on the 7th of May, 1995, at the Basilica of St. Peter, Rome

Nowadays, her natal house can be visited in Choroní, it is open to the public and you would be shown around by one of the Agustinas sisters.

This coastal town of the Aragua State is only 50 kilometers from Maracay; it is framed by the Henri Pitier National Park. The National Park is located in the Central Coastal Region of Venezuela between the states of Aragua and Crabobo. It was the first National Park established in Venezuela on February 13th, 1937 under the name of Rancho Grande, but in 1953 was changed to Henry Pitier as an honor to the famous naturalist. It measures 107,800 hectares from the Caribbean coast to the south of the mountain range. It has an amazing diversity of flora from the gramineas and bushes in the lowest areas to the high lands of the rain forest. It also has a great variety of fauna, with some 520 species of birds; and mammals such as: tapirs, ocelots, pumas, monkeys, etc.
